Creatine is one of the most familiar ingredients in sports nutrition. That familiarity can create a false sense of ease. A brand can choose creatine monohydrate, pick a flavor, approve a label, and still discover that the product is gritty, too bulky, slow to fill, hard to capsule, or messy to document at scale.

cGMP controls should match the real process

Under 21 CFR Part 111, dietary supplement manufacturers must prepare and follow a written master manufacturing record for each unique formulation and batch size. The MMR should establish controls and procedures so each batch meets specifications.

For creatine products, those controls may include component identity, lot traceability, weighing, screening, order of addition, blend time, in-process weight checks, capsule or packet checks, packaging material reconciliation, finished product specifications, and quality review. The details change by format, but the principle does not: the written process should reflect the actual process.

This is especially important as brands build more mainstream creatine products for women, active aging, hydration, and daily use. A more accessible product still has to be manufactured like a dietary supplement, not like a trend mockup.
